Expert Law Enforcement Training Across Nevada

Sgt. Jose Garcia, North Las Vegas Police Department (Ret.)

Sgt. Jose Garcia had a distinguished career in the North Las Vegas Police Department. He retired with almost 24 years of experience in several specialized units and Federal Task Forces.

As an officer, Sgt. Garcia was assigned to the Patrol, the Problem Solving Unit (PSU), the Narcotics Unit, the Special Operations Unit (SWAT), and the Training Division.

Sgt. Garcia conducted day-to-day operations when assigned to patrol. He responded to calls for service and traffic collisions and conducted self-initiated patrol-level investigations.

Sgt. Garcia was tasked with zero-tolerance cell-initiated patrol, gang investigations, and establishing and nurturing ties with the community while assigned to the Problem-Solving Unit. He was also assigned to the United States Marshals Service Fugitive Investigative Strike Team (F.I.S.T.). Team. His responsibilities were to conduct fugitive investigations by conducting desk audits, surveillance, and serving narcotics arrest warrants.

During Sgt. Garcia’s assignment to the Narcotics Unit, Sgt. Garcia conducted mobile surveillance, surveillance on foot, served dynamic entry narcotic search warrants, and conducted undercover investigations. During Sgt. Garcia’s assignment to the Narcotics Unit, he was part of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Narcotics Task Force, where he conducted undercover operations and was a case agent in federal HIDTA cases, working hand in hand with other local and federal law enforcement agencies.

Sgt. Garcia was a full-time member of the North Las Vegas Police Department Special Operations (SWAT) Team. He was responsible for manual breaching, entries, containment, gas man, and vehicle assaults. The Special Operations Unit was also tasked with teaching officer survival, advanced firearms training, and active assailant classes to the department.

As a training officer, Sgt. Garcia oversaw the Field Training Program.
